IBM and Red Hat: Open and ready for business

By | 3 minute read | July 9, 2019

The news that we’ve all been waiting for—the acquisition of Red Hat has closed. This is a defining moment in IBM history and stands to be one of the most significant tech acquisitions of 2019. There’s never been a better time to be an IBM Business Partner.

IBM and Red Hat together will unlock the true value of hybrid cloud for business. By combining the power and flexibility of Red Hat’s open hybrid cloud technologies with the scale and depth of IBM’s innovation and industry expertise, clients now have the tools they need to accelerate their cloud journey.

The complete portfolio that IBM and Red Hat offers presents enormous opportunities for our Business Partners. As more enterprises look to transform their businesses, differentiate through technology, and move across multiple clouds, they will need the knowledge, solutions and services that only you can provide. Our Business Partners are essential. The majority of Red Hat’s revenue is driven by their partner ecosystem and many of you are already Red Hat Partners. With this acquisition, we will open up even more possibilities for you.

IBM is committed to preserving Red Hat’s independence, culture and neutrality. We are equally committed to growing our respective partner ecosystems, both of which include an extensive community of solution providers, systems integrators, resellers, ISVs, MSPs and cloud providers.

To that end, we are working closely with Red Hat on best practices to ensure that we continue to provide the industry’s leading programs. Here resources available for you today:

  • IBM+Red Hat Run books: We are proud to provide Business Partners with a full suite of resources, called IBM-Red Hat Run Books, powered by our Seismic platform. They include solution sales kits, sales plays, presentations, use cases and other assets from across the IBM and Red Hat portfolios—all in one place for both Business Partners and IBM sales teams.
  • Business Partner Connect: IBM and Red Hat Business Partners can use Business Partner Connect to collaborate on opportunities and business development activities. This is a great opportunity to tap into cloud skills and offerings that are available across the IBM Business Partner ecosystem.
  • Partner Advisor: The Watson-powered chat bot on PartnerWorld now features Red Hat Partner Program content, giving IBM Business Partners all the Red Hat information that they need, right at their fingertips.
  • PartnerWorld—Red Hat Fast Start: IBM invites Red Hat Partners to join IBM PartnerWorld. Red Hat accreditations will now count towards the competency requirement in the PartnerWorld program. With Fast Start, Red Hat Partners can get a jump start in delivering compelling IBM-Red Hat hybrid cloud solutions for customers.

These resources and more can be found on the Red Hat Resources page in PartnerWorld.

In the coming weeks, more information will be made available to Business Partners and clients about our product roadmaps and additional resources you need to compete in the hybrid cloud environment.
