Today, we are accelerating plans to enable the Partner Ecosystem in this next chapter of cloud in the industry and we want to share with you more guidance on our IBM+Red Hat hybrid multicloud platform offerings and product roadmap.

It’s well documented that the most common inhibitors of cloud adoption include the lack of portability across clouds and lack of cloud skillsets in the market. IBM and Red Hat technology, plus the skills and services from your firms—our Partner Ecosystem—are changing all of that. The opportunity here is vast, over $1 trillion in market opportunity, and our joint ecosystems are critical to the success of this cloud transformation.

We’ve launched our IBM Cloud Paks—enterprise-ready solutions proven to accelerate time to market and reduce operational costs for organizations worldwide. IBM Cloud Paks are a combination of IBM and open source containerized software, core operational services, and a Kubernetes container platform.

IBM Cloud Paks are a rebranding and evolution of our successful IBM Cloud Private portfolio, which our partners have used to transform many clients over the past two years. Upcoming releases of our IBM Cloud Paks will include Red Hat OpenShift, which we are standardizing as our strategic Kubernetes platform moving forward.

The five IBM Cloud Paks that are available today include:

  • Cloud Pak for Data to help simplify and automate how organizations deliver insights from their data, and provide an open and extensible architecture to virtualize data for AI 500 percent faster.
  • Cloud Pak for Applications to help businesses modernize, build, deploy and run applications. It is designed to help reduce development time by up to 84 percent.
  • Cloud Pak for Integration to help integrate apps, data, cloud services and APIs. It is designed to eliminate 33 percent of integration costs.
  • Cloud Pak for Automation to help transform business processes, decisions and content. It is designed to reduce manual processes by up to 80 percent.
  • Cloud Pak for Multicloud Management to provide multicloud visibility, governance and automation. It is designed to help reduce operational expenses by up to 75 percent.

IBM Cloud Paks represent the continuation of a strategy to containerize IBM Middleware on a common Kubernetes platform. This announcement solidifies that Red Hat OpenShift is the common Kubernetes platform for all IBM Cloud Paks. Cloud Paks provide Business Partners with a secure and supported environment to accelerate their client’s journey to cloud and AI.

In support of the overall RedHat and IBM synergy objectives, IBM Systems has key capabilities that make Systems the best-in-class foundation for our clients’ journey to hybrid multicloud environments. IBM will continue to strengthen our Linux position on key workloads—specifically, Systems has plans to enhance support of Red Hat OpenShift and Cloud Paks across IBM System z, LinuxONE, Cognitive Systems and Storage.
