With the release of the new Star Wars film moviegoers everywhere are being re-introduced to The Force and its power. More than a few people may even walk out imagining what life would be like in a world inhabited by The Force. While we may never be able to control each other’s minds, the ability to manipulate the physical world through our speech, and even our thoughts, is very much a reality today. It is a reality being made more possible all the time by advances in technology like Natural Language Processing, sensors and IoT. Today, it is even possible to move a BB-8 Droid with your mind.

Bluemix Catalog Updates – Introducing Bluemix Labs

Bluemix has been in market for a little over a year and since that time we have introduced nearly 100 IBM, 3rd party and open source services and runtimes, more than 60 of which we have been made generally available with production plans. Because the catalog is growing so quickly and our focus continues to be on providing high-quality production services, we're updating the catalog experience to make it easier to navigate to services that are either ready for production or close to it. We've done this by removing our experimental services from the primary catalog page and introduced them in a new section we're calling, "Bluemix Labs."

Introducing IBM dashDB and IBM DataWorks

Introducing IBM DataWorks, exposed as REST APIs that enable your application to move data from cloud sources to cloud targets, validate and improve the accuracy of your location data by standardizing US addresses, and identify high value data attributes (such as national IDs). In addition, IBM also announced future state capabilities such as provision masked data, securely load data, and probabilistic match. IBM DataWorks services are also embedded within IBM Watson Analytics.
