The importance of fun in the workplace
One of the key elements of the Cloud Garage Method is Culture. That single word encompasses a whole range of practices about how we manage our projects, and how we interact with our stakeholders and each other. One of my favorite parts of the Cloud Garage culture is the fact that it includes a fun work environment.

Accelerate and streamline AI and HPC workloads with new NVIDIA GPUs on IBM Cloud
Starting today, you can equip individual IBM Cloud bare metal servers with up to two NVIDIA Tesla V100 PCIe GPU accelerators — NVIDIA’s latest, fastest and most advanced GPU architecture. The combination of IBM high-speed network connectivity and bare metal servers with the Tesla V100 GPUs provides the performance and speed that enterprises need. That means AI models that once needed weeks of computing resources can now be trained in just a few hours.

VMware HCX on IBM Cloud (aka “space age IT”) – now available!
“It’s insane” “It shouldn’t work, but it does” “This is really cool space age kind of IT” “HCX was the best answer by far” Earlier this week, a colleague in IBM’s Global Business Services group who is working with a large client in the industrial sector said these things regarding his recent experience with a […]
Tutorial: GitHub Traffic Analytics with Cloud Functions and Cloud Foundry
In a new solution tutorial, I show you how to automatically retrieve and store GitHub traffic data the serverless way with IBM Cloud Functions and Db2. The data can then be analyzed via a Web app deployed to Cloud Foundry on IBM Cloud. The app is secured with App ID using OpenID Connect. The new service Dynamic Dashboard Embedded provides visualization of the views and clones of GitHub repositories.
IBM Now Offers SAP on IBM Cloud in Partner-Managed Business Model
Building on a 46-year alliance with SAP, the IBM Cloud platform has been certified by SAP for its bare metal servers, local and shared storage and networking. This certification allows our Business Partners to run their client’s full production SAP applications and associated workloads on the IBM Cloud and manage it.
Cloning an App ID instance configuration
With App ID, you can now manage your service instance with an API!
Securing Angular+Node.js Applications using App ID
One of the most common architectures of modern applications is Single Page Applications (SPAs), where a single HTML page interacts with a backend application via JavaScript to dynamically generate its content. In this blog, we look at how a single page application can integrate authentication and authorization via IBM Cloud App ID.
Streaming Analytics: New features and new price plans
The Streaming Analytics service in the IBM Cloud is an advanced analytic platform allowing user-developed applications to quickly ingest, analyze, and correlate information as it arrives from a wide variety of real-time data sources. Today, a new version of the service is generally available, providing a set of exciting new features and new set of price plans.
IBM Cloud Foundry – CF Summit Summary and Path Forward
The Cloud Foundry Summit 2018 Boston just ended, and all I can say is wow! I'm the Offering Manager for IBM Cloud Foundry, and let me just say, it's been an honor representing IBM Cloud Foundry this week and working with all the incredible IBM technology people supporting this IBM Cloud compute offering. There was so much going on, so many great new things to learn, and so much news all around, it was a world-wind week of Cloud Foundry excellence.
Don’t treat your data like an object
In recent years, object storage has become a dominant paradigm for large-scale, cost-effective data storage. Solutions like IBM Cloud Object Storage are both highly scalable and extremely resilient, utilizing ingenious algorithms to distribute data across a cluster of storage systems and provide a high level of fault tolerance. At the same time, these algorithms minimize the number of complete copies of the data that need to be stored, which reduces total data volumes and keeps costs low.
Process large data sets at massive scale with PyWren over IBM Cloud Functions
(Ed.–Josep Sampé–Universitat Rovira i Virgili–co-authored this post.) Let’s say you write a function in Python to process and analyze some data. You successfully test the function using a small amount of data and now you want to run the function as a serverless action at massive scale, with parallelism, against terabytes of data. What options do you have? Obviously, […]
Go Lite with Watson Knowledge Studio
Watson Knowledge Studio (WKS) is now available with a Lite Plan, as part of IBM Cloud's Lite Accounts that never expire and don't need payment information. If you are involved with analyzing text data and have never used WKS or if you had signed up to use the Free Plan of WKS on IBM Cloud, you should read this!
