The agility of the cloud

Cloud is the anchor of digital transformation. Due to its flexible, on-demand, usage-based qualities, it’s easy to understand why cloud adoption appeals to businesses looking to grow and achieve cost and performance efficiencies. The cloud’s agility enables enterprises to innovate around product development, customer experience, and operations, enabling them to stay a step ahead of the competition.

However, businesses that dove into the cloud world head first are realizing that no single cloud model fits the diverse requirements and workload needs across their various business units. And as more cloud platform options emerge, each addressing different use cases, 85% of enterprises are starting to embrace a multicloud strategy as part of their digital transformation approach.* Furthermore, enterprises increasingly opt for hybrid cloud strategies, utilizing a combination of private and public IT infrastructure assets.**

Benefitting from a multicloud environment

Every major cloud platform has a range of data-related services. Some workloads run better on one platform, other workloads achieve higher performance and lower cost on another, and certain workloads still require private infrastructure. By adopting a hybrid or multicloud strategy, companies can easily choose best-in-class services from different cloud providers and deployment models to create the best possible solution for their business.

These dispersed IT workloads across multiple cloud platforms and private infrastructure deployments in data centers create new networking challenges. Interxion and IBM understand the impact that hybrid and multicloud environments can have on a business, and they’ve made it even simpler for enterprises to deploy multicloud strategies that work best for them. We’ve recently announced that IBM Cloud has been added to the growing roster of cloud service providers that our customers across Europe can now access through Cloud Connect, Interxion’s interconnection platform. Moreover, Interxion has been officially announced as a new member of the IBM Cloud Direct Link Service Provider Program.

Interconnecting with IBM Cloud Services

Access to IBM Cloud Services is available via IBM Cloud Direct Link, a network service designed to secure and accelerate data transfer between private infrastructure and public cloud, which is now co-located in Interxion’s Frankfurt and Stockholm facilities. In both locations, Interxion can provide low-latency access to IBM Cloud. In addition, Interxion extends secure, performant, and cost-efficient access to IBM Cloud to 13 European markets through Cloud Connect, Interxion’s multicloud SDN platform.

Cloud Connect simplifies access to Direct Link through a single physical connection at any of Interxion’s 50+ data centers across Europe, offering customers the ability to build an unlimited number of virtual connections on top of this, to any cloud platform. As an added benefit, Cloud Connect is fully integrated with the Direct Link service, enabling customers to provision the dedicated and private connections they need via Interxion’s automated, self-service customer portal.

With a connectivity model that bypasses the public internet to access IBM Cloud, enterprises and IT service providers can leverage key services that are aligned to support next-generation applications, including AI, IoT, blockchain, machine learning, and more that are driving their digital transformation. With Direct Link access from Interxion’s data centers across Europe, enterprises use IBM Cloud to maximize their data assets and generate additional business value.

Each company’s digital transformation will have its own requirements which will affect their hybrid and multicloud strategy. A carrier-neutral co-location data center like Interxion is a great option for these enterprises, given the security, reliability, and choice benefits they can provide.
