The most powerful SAP-certified servers available: Meet the new IBM Cloud bare metal servers

Working in conjunction with SAP, IBM Cloud is proud to announce the global availability of new 4-socket and 8-socket bare metal servers that are fully SAP® HANA® and SAP NetWeaver®-certified and powered by the latest Intel® Xeon® E7-8890 V4 processors.

These new IBM Cloud bare metal servers can now be ordered and configured with up to 8 TB of RAM—making them among the most powerful bare metal servers for SAP workloads available today:

In addition, for SAP NetWeaver applications, IBM is also excited to announce the following new server configurations:

All of the above configurations can be configured with VMware vSphere 6.0 or 6.5, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.7 for SAP HANA, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.8 for SAP Applications, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 for SAP HANA, or SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 for SAP.

What makes IBM Cloud different?

With this announcement, IBM is delivering one of the largest cloud solutions for memory-intensive SAP HANA workloads, offering fully SAP-certified  8-socket processor configurations with up to 8 TB RAM running on IBM bare metal servers for SAP HANA. For SAP customers, they now have the power and performance needed for today’s largest SAP installations. With 192 physical cores, IBM’s newest 8-socket/8 TB RAM configuration is the most powerful cloud server available today. IBM Cloud running SAP is more cost-efficient as well—in many cases costing less than comparable competitive offerings.

IBM is also the only provider to offer its latest bare metal configurations running VMware. For customers currently running SAP implementations in an on-premise or hosted VMware environment, transitioning to the IBM Cloud is easy—there’s no need to refactor or retool existing applications.

With IBM’s global network of nearly 60 cloud data centers across 19 countries, clients can scale globally to run their SAP applications when and where they need. To gain additional intelligence and insights from the enterprise data housed within the HANA landscape, IBM offers cognitive and analytics services for a number of industries, including financial services, healthcare, and manufacturing. Because IBM Cloud-based SAP servers run on IBM’s private dedicated network, customers are assured high network performance, availability and security—all at no additional cost.

IBM also offers managed services that help customers seamlessly co-locate their development, test, and production environments for SAP HANA and NetWeaver applications, speed deployments, and increase utilization.
