Veeam on IBM Cloud: Bridging the Availability Gap

Share this post:

With the recent announcement of Veeam on IBM Cloud, it’s important to understand what this means for our clients, particularly IT managers. With Veeam boasting close to 20% market share for VMware workloads, this new launch on IBM Bluemix providers our customers the ability to backup and protect their workloads running on Bluemix. Veeam was first introduced as an integrated backup management component to VMware Cloud Foundation on IBM Cloud in October 2016.

Veeam Availability Suite for both VMware and Hyper-V allows our clients to use Veeam to backup their IBM Cloud workloads but also performs offsite backup and replication to 50+ IBM cloud data centers.

Veeam provides not only backup and replication for on-premises and cloud born workloads, it more importantly provides very fast recovery.

Take a look at this architectural diagram to see how your back-up would work:

Backup and recovery using IBM Bluemix and Veeam.

We made getting started with Veeam easy and simple. After determining the number of virtual machines you like to backup, select a data center, configure a Bluemix virtual server (public node), determine the amount of Endurance storage (.25 IOPS) needed and you’re all set to start backing up your workloads either from on-premises or the cloud. The license backup packs start at 10 virtual machines for $180.00.

For those of you attending the VeeamOn conference this week, come visit the IBM booth 301 to see a detailed demo of Veeam on IBM Cloud. And check-out the detailed options on the server backup page, click here.
