Many of you have used the Data Cache on Bluemix to improve the performance and user experience of web applications by retrieving information from fast, managed, in-memory caches. Earlier this month, Bluemix made available Compose’s hosted databases to Bluemix, which includes Redis, an in-memory key/value store.
As a result, we are retiring the Data Cache service on November 1, 2016.
What you need to know
- End of Marketing: As of December 1, 2016, the service tile will be removed from the Bluemix Public catalog and you will no longer be able to provision new Data Cache instances. However, existing instances will continue to be supported. Bluemix Dedicated and Local installations are unaffected by this announcement.
- End of Support: For a period of 180 days after the service retirement date—through May 1, 2017 for Bluemix Public. All existing instances will continue to be available to users through their Bluemix dashboard, and will continue to be supported by Data Cache. Any instance still provisioned as of the End of Support date will be deleted. Users are therefore asked to unprovision their Data Cache service instance(s) prior to the End of Support date.
We encourage existing Data Cache service users to transition to the Compose Redis service. See our sample Data Cache Transition to Redis Guide for hints and tips on how to move over. Happy caching!
Update for June 1, 2017
|End of Marketing for Bluemix Dedicated and Local: After August 1, 2017, new customers will not be able to order DataCache Cache for Bluemix Dedicated &/or Bluemix Local.
End of Support for Bluemix Dedicated and Local: Date is subject to individual contract terms & will not End Support before contract ends.
