Learn how to automate the provisioning and configuration of virtual machines in IBM Cloud VMWare Solutions Shared.
IBM Cloud offers a number of deployment offerings for VMware that you can choose from, each providing a different level of abstraction. VMware Cloud Director (VCD) is offered under the banner of IBM Cloud for VMware Solutions Shared. It is a multi-tenant service with elasticity and two subscription types: Shared and Dedicated.
We recently published a new tutorial walking you through the setup of VMWare Solutions Shared using IBM Cloud Schematics (Terraform).
Get started with the tutorial
In this tutorial, you will do the following:
- Create a VMware Solutions Shared instance in the IBM Cloud.
- Create a Schematics workspace in the IBM Cloud to run Infrastructure as Code (IaC) based on Terraform.
- Use Schematics to create a network, firewall, source network address translation (SNAT), destination network address translation (DNAT) rules, and deploy a virtual machine instance in VMware Virtual Data Center via a Terraform template.
