Unlock innovation with Red Hat OpenShift on IBM Cloud

Just three weeks ago, we announced the close of IBM’s landmark acquisition of Red Hat. Since then, clients have been asking how they’ll benefit from the powerful combination of Red Hat’s open hybrid cloud technologies and IBM’s industry expertise. Today, we’re unveiling one of the first new ways clients can unlock innovation with Red Hat OpenShift on IBM Cloud.

Enterprises today are running applications and data on infrastructure from a variety of vendors and want to continue maintaining that same flexibility. Yet, as their hybrid cloud development teams look to innovate rapidly and deploy Kubernetes-based solutions, they are looking for automation, ease of deployment, and assistance managing growing complexity. Feature currency and consistent security across these various cloud and IT environments can be challenging.

Containerized workloads are key to growing and transforming your business in this hybrid cloud world. Red Hat OpenShift on IBM Cloud is the basis for these workloads and is backed by IBM’s leading storage, data, developer tools, and consulting services to meet your needs.

Introducing Red Hat OpenShift on IBM Cloud

With this new offering, users have a fast and secure way to deploy and manage enterprise workloads across hybrid cloud environments, unlocking the power of IBM Cloud for the Red Hat community. Enterprises using Red Hat OpenShift can scale across IBM’s global footprint of data centers and multi-zone regions and consistently monitor, log, and secure their applications.

IBM Cloud is open, secure, enterprise-grade, and the only public cloud built for dynamic scale on Kubernetes. IBM manages more than 14,000 production Kubernetes clusters today across thousands of enterprise clients. Now, with the launch of Red Hat OpenShift on IBM’s public cloud, clients will have access to a flexible, fully managed service for OpenShift clusters with an optimized experience for deploying IBM Cloud Paks, pre-integrated sets of containerized IBM software.

By having IBM manage the infrastructure, platform security patches, and feature updates 24/7 and gaining access to preloaded, certified Cloud Pak content and ‘one click-to-deployment’ automation, clients can focus on application development and delivery. This allows them to spend more time and resources innovating in the cloud, incorporating high-value service capabilities such as AI, IoT, and blockchain.

IBM Cloud Paks: More secure in IBM Cloud

The launch of Red Hat OpenShift on IBM Cloud provides the most secure destination for IBM’s new Cloud Paks in the public cloud. With Red Hat OpenShift on IBM Cloud, you can deploy the five new IBM Cloud Paks directly to the IBM’s public cloud, where security is our priority.

Growing momentum with IBM Cloud

IBM Cloud is already helping enterprises drive velocity, scale, and security for app modernization and cloud-native projects. We see companies in industries ranging from healthcare to finance to transportation, and media adopting Kubernetes. And the IBM Cloud continues to support some of the most mission-critical workloads – including maintaining 30-100M page views per day for The Weather Company.
