IBM Cloud Pak + Trilio: Protect, upgrade, and migrate

TrilioVault for Kubernetes offers cloud native data protection for OpenShift and Kubernetes, allowing users to manage their cloud with application-centric backup and recovery for data and metadata.

We are pleased to announce that TrilioVault for Kubernetes has met the Certified for IBM Cloud Pak® criteria! These criteria include data encryption in-flight and at-rest, network protection, limiting security privilege, and key and certificate use and management.  Enterprise customers can have a high level of confidence in this solution.

The core Trilio technology is an agentless, software-only model that is self-service for multi-tenant environments that support high degrees of scale. TrilioVault, with its open and forever-incremental point-in-time backup schemas, is said to support any storage target, making it ideal for cloud native environments where applications are built on Kubernetes.

IBM collaborated with Trilio on the solution to help ensure interoperability, security, and resiliency. Learn more about the many benefits of pairing Trilio and IBM.

Alibaba Cloud becomes an eligible cloud provider for IBM Cloud Pak solutions

Recently, IBM announced the addition of Alibaba Cloud as an eligible cloud provider for IBM Cloud Pak® solutions. With this addition to our list of eligible public clouds, we can offer IBM Cloud Pak as BYOSL (Bring Your Own Software Licenses) on Alibaba Cloud, a great milestone of expanding our hybrid cloud ecosystem by shaping new partnership of IBM Cloud Pak solutions on the third-party cloud.

Customers who acquired any IBM Cloud Pak solution directly or through an authorized IBM reseller can now choose Alibaba Cloud to deploy and execute containerized IBM Cloud Pak components under IBM license terms. At the same time, the public cloud customers of Alibaba (which is 42% of the country’s public market share, Source: IDC) can access IBM Cloud Pak on Alibaba Cloud.

There was more discussion about what Alibaba and our partners are doing to create new norms and help customers accelerate their digital transformation at the recently concluded Global Partner Summit 2020 during the #ApsaraConference2020.

IBM has helped thousands of enterprises realize a faster, more secure journey to Cloud and AI. These opportunities happen when tens of thousands of people work together. The ecosystem is core to our strategy and now we are eager to drive cloud innovation and growth together with Alibaba Cloud.

Desmart uses IBM Cloud Pak for Automation to build a new business model for Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group

“Enterprises must have the courage to eliminate, simplify, and re-integrate existing processes in order to automate processes and establish a new model for future work.” – Shide Zhang, General Manager of Desmart

Yangtze River Pharmaceutical is the backbone of pharma companies in China and considers technological innovation as its top priority. They wanted to improve the efficiency of the company through efficient system models, automation of management, and optimization of business processes.

Although the company had implemented solutions such as SAP, QMS, DMS, WMS, LIMS, SRMS, and CRM, they found that those solutions were quite isolated, lacked flexibility, and could not fully meet the needs for business development and process optimization. This drove Yangtze River to seek a more automated and intelligent business process solution.

Desmart partnered with the IBM Cloud Pak® for Automation to address Yangtze River Pharmaceutical’s key problems. With the advanced technology and tools of IBM Cloud Pak for Automation, Desmart was able to help the customer integrate a series of original software as building blocks, assemble new functions and processes on the open platform of OCP, achieve new process optimization, and protect customer investment.

The 14 types of business processes were sorted from bottom to top, and the business functions in the original application system were opened by using IBM Cloud Pak for Automation to realize cross-system invocation and reuse and assemble new functions and process, forming a new Yangtze River enterprise business integration platform.

As of July 2020, the enterprise business integration platform of Yangtze River Pharmaceuticals has been running without barriers for 1,314 hours, handling 1,502 task items in total, 141 completed processes, dual-active server cluster deployment, and continuous stable and efficient operation.
