Integrated Low-code Development and Developer Experience with IBM Cloud and Mendix

Benefit from seamless platform integration to accelerate application delivery and management on IBM Cloud

Today, we are announcing the availability of an integrated low-code development and developer experience to help IBM clients focus on innovating their customer experience with advanced technologies.

Today’s news strengthens the global reseller partnership recently announced between IBM and Mendix, to combine the ease of Mendix’s low-code environment with IBM Cloud’s advanced services. This includes AI, blockchain, data analytics, mobile, and Internet of things (IoT) services.

As a client of both IBM and Mendix, Kevin Karty, VP Analytics Innovation at Altisource Portfolio Solutions, recently stated, “We are excited about the collaboration between IBM and Mendix as their products are strategic to our business. We adopted Mendix as our innovation platform, and we plan on bringing existing workloads to IBM Cloud. We anticipate this collaboration will enable us to better leverage our IT assets and data to realize even greater business value for Altisource and our clients.”

This release is one outcome of the ambitious goals we’ve set to create a seamless experience for developers and DevOps engineers leveraging Mendix on IBM Cloud. From developer onboarding, to low-code development leveraging Watson and mobile services, to DevOps Continuous Delivery, both IBM and Mendix products are deeply integrated for cloud native consumption.

The unified environment now covers:

  • Cloud

    • Platform integration: new app creation from either cloud platform portal and template access for web, mobile and Watson-based apps.

    • Toolchain integration: with IBM Continuous Delivery for automated deployment to IBM Cloud.

  • Artificial Intelligence

    • Native IBM Watson connectors for drag-and-drop use in the Mendix Modeler including Conversation, Language Translator, Natural Language Understanding, Text to Speech, Tone Analyzer, and Visual Recognition.

  • Mobile

    • APP ID: easily add authentication to web and mobile apps and manage user specific data to build personalized experiences.

    • Mobile Analytics: monitor app performance and usage to find trends, resolve issues, and trigger alerts when metrics cross critical thresholds.

Johan den Haan, CTO of Mendix agrees. “Providing flexible front-end and scalable backend services with this level of integration, we enable low-code developers to build the next generation of intelligent apps that are proactive and contextual. Apps are no longer just web or mobile but become ambient and multi-experience, with several possible touchpoints across channels and devices.”

See what’s new in SingleStoreDB with IBM 8.0

3 min read - Despite decades of progress in database systems, builders have compromised on at least one of the following: speed, reliability, or ease. They have two options: one, they could get a document database that is fast and easy, but can’t be relied on for mission-critical transactional applications. Or two, they could rely on a cloud data warehouse that is easy to set up, but only allows lagging analytics. Even then, each solution lacks something, forcing builders to deploy other databases for…
