PostgreSQL is now available for Hyper Protect DBaaS

As of August 8, 2018, IBM Hyper Protect DBaaS Experimental has a new addition to the databases it can support—PostgreSQL. PostgreSQL is an open-source object-relational database system that uses SQL language and myriad features that safely store and scale all kinds of data workloads. Hyper Protect DBaaS will soon match the level of functionality for PostreSQL that is seen on its support for MongoDB.

How do I run PostgreSQL on Hyper Protect DBaaS?

Running PostgreSQL on Hyper Protect DBaaS is just as easy as it is with MongoDB. Simply select it from the drop-down menu under Database Type, as shown below:

How will you use it?

With both PostgreSQL and MongoDB running on Hyper Protect DBaaS, more choices are available with regards to how to store important data and keep it secure, tamper-resistant, and available, all in an easy-to-use offering. They have two options: one, they could get a document database that is fast and easy, but can’t be relied on for mission-critical transactional applications. Or two, they could rely on a cloud data warehouse that is easy to set up, but only allows lagging analytics. Even then, each solution lacks something, forcing builders to deploy other databases for…
