Experimental service for MQ on IBM Cloud is here
I’m proud to announce that IBM MQ is now available “as a service” on IBM Cloud. It’s not something you can buy just yet, but you can currently try it out as an experimental service today, and whet your appetite for the very near future.
MQ is already deployed on cloud platforms by many customers as a self-managed deployment, but this is the first time that IBM isoffering MQ as a hosted service. This new service enables users to forget about running their own servers and underlying infrastructure, and focus solely on configuring MQ and their application scenarios.
MQ on IBM Cloud will be provided based on-cloud optimized pricing.
So, what does MQ on IBM Cloud bring to the table? Here’s a snapshot on what we’re offering from today:
– MQ will be hosted by IBM, so users won’t need to worry about the underlying infrastructure that is required to run MQ queue managers
– Users will be able to maintain their MQ skills, and integrate cloud solutions with existing messaging estates through hybrid architectures when moving to the cloud
– A queue manager can now be deployed within minutes
– Maintenance is applied automatically on a timeline influenced by the user, keeping the system and MQ at the latest and most capable levels
