IBM Cloud DevOps Insights to change the way it charges for usage in December

Since its inception, IBM Cloud DevOps Insights has unified the application release test, build, and deploy experience into a single tool. So far, our users have tracked analytics across hundreds of applications within Insights, and as the Insights team continues to release additional features, our customers will also gain analytics on other parts of their DevOps pipeline.

Starting in December of 2018, IBM Cloud DevOps Insights will change the way it charges for usage. Instead of charging by Application, Insights will use the term Item. By charging for items within Insights, we will be able to scale our value across future feature sets.

How will this impact existing customers?

Items and Applications work on the same principle: by count. When the change is complete, we will charge for the total number of Items instead of Applications. Usage will not be affected by this. All items will be charged on a monthly recurring basis and they will not be prorated.

Billing will not be impacted.

We see this as a label change that will not impact existing Insights usage or the way service usage is billed.

Where will this change appear?

This metric change will only appear in our terms.

See what’s new in SingleStoreDB with IBM 8.0

3 min read - Despite decades of progress in database systems, builders have compromised on at least one of the following: speed, reliability, or ease. They have two options: one, they could get a document database that is fast and easy, but can’t be relied on for mission-critical transactional applications. Or two, they could rely on a cloud data warehouse that is easy to set up, but only allows lagging analytics. Even then, each solution lacks something, forcing builders to deploy other databases for…
