A new mission and new format

Enterprise Content Management (ECM) has changed. Organizations are going way beyond deploying isolated ECM business suites; they are building apps for the Digital Business. The Digital Business forces companies to blur traditional boundaries of technology, markets and customers to create new business models that disrupt the competition and engage customers.

As organizations are discovering, content is essential to the Digital Business, since it’s the primary source for customer information. Today, business leaders and IT need flexible content services and solutions that can be connected to other business systems to create new value propositions for customers.

IBM ECM solutions are acknowledged as the industry’s broadest portfolio of content services. Whether you’re just beginning your Digital Transformation, building Digital Business apps, considering the Cloud or Mobile, or looking for ways to make Content Cognitive, IBM ECM can provide the solutions, strategies and roadmap for Digital Transformation and Cognitive Business.

Today’s successful organizations never stop learning. In the New Era of ECM, it’s not simply technology, but best practices and strategy that will make the difference. That’s why IBM Content 2017 has a new mission and a new workshop format. After an opening keynote by AIIM evangelist John Mancini and the IBM Roadmap from IBM’s Feri Clayton, you can select a one day Business workshop on “ECM Strategies for Success” or take a two day workshop on Datacap or a two day workshop on Case Manager/Content Foundation.

You will leave this event with a real understanding of where content can be used across your business and how to improve your business with it!

In the world of Enterprise Content Management (ECM), the name FileNet carries a stellar reputation. Over a decade ago, the FileNet solution platform, Content Foundation (also known as “P8”), pioneered imaging and workflow. Today, it remains the standard for security, stability and scalability.

By adding IBM Case Manager as a work management layer on top of P8, an ECM architect gains powerful capabilities to:

  • Aggregate data and content
  • Collaborate with team members
  • Make better decisions and take the right next best actions

This workshop focuses on:

  • How the P8 platform and Case Manager solution framework enable a variety of content services for digital business applications
  • How Content Navigator serves as the single user experience for all IBM content solutions, along with Daeja viewer embedded in Content Navigator. The content platform and architecture aspects such as scalability, high availability, disaster recovery and shared services
  • Governance and persistence of content throughout a business process How to use IBM Case Manager to build vertical market applications for banking, insurance, government and healthcare
  • Use case demonstrations featuring how to use analytics for performance monitoring and customer insight
  • How Content Foundation and Case Manager can be deployed on-premises, through cloud-hosted managed services or in mobile applications

ECM architects will gain an understanding of the full content platform and case management capabilities that can create new business models and content applications to disrupt competition and engage customers better.

Datacap Workshop

This workshop is sponsored by

Digital business requires a platform for digitizing content quickly and efficiently. Any digital business application requires the ability to search and view documents in order to apply data from documents into business processes. For nearly 30 years, IBM Datacap has led document capture innovation. Today, Datacap offers the most comprehensive intelligent document capture capabilities available.

Document capture begins with the ingestion of documents from any format and any device (multichannel capture) and then handles the classification of document content using a waterfall approach that includes 8 different automated methods. It starts with extraction of data from documents (Optical Character Recognition) and conversion to XML for easy routing to business systems, and concludes by applying metadata indexing to each page to support easy search and retrieval.

This workshop will examine each of these capabilities and show how they work, how to set them up, and how to monitor and report on capture system efficiency. We’ll explore Datacap’s tight integration with FileNet P8, CM8, and Box, and how many companies use Datacap with non-IBM repositories as well. Learn how to:

  • Set up Datacap capture service within Case Manager or to launch a case, depending on the document type. Use Datacap’s cognitive capabilities to improve the total understanding of documents for faster classification, more accurate routing to business systems and data mining for improved customer knowledge
  • Harness the power of cognitive capture to open new possibilities for customer value

Throughout the workshop, software demonstrations and roundtable discussions will leave you with a deep understanding of techniques to automate the complex process of document digitization.

ECM Best Practices for Success

In this session, IBM offers a one-day ECM curriculum for executives, business leaders and project managers who want to gain an understanding of best practices for ECM deployments. Over the years, IBM and its customers have developed a set of Best Practices that can make all the difference in a successful deployment and this is a great introduction.

The session begins with a crash course in Content on the Cloud, answering the essential questions, including:

  • Why put Content in the Cloud?
  • What types of Content and Use Cases are best suited for the Cloud?
  • Who has already begun their Cloud Journey and what did they learn?
  • And what is IBM’s Cloud strategy and advantages?

After lunch, the consultants from IBM Lab Services have designed a session that picks up on the Cloud theme with all the steps needed to move to the Cloud. They segue next into how to design and deploy a Cognitive solution and finish up with all the steps required to develop a vision, strategy and execution strategy for any ECM Solution, with special emphasis on the methodology for establishing and ECM Center of Excellence.

* In each city, we plan to have a Client Panel, moderated by AIIM’s John Mancini, to find out how some of our leading customers have solved issues and ensured the success of their deployments. There will also be special guests that could show up at any moment, so stay tuned.
