Users installing the ServerGuide Scripting Toolkit version 1.3 on a server that also has the Altiris Deployment Solution product installed may receive an InstallShield error message 1722.

Symptom
Users installing the ServerGuide Scripting Toolkit version 1.3 on a server that also has the Altiris Deployment Solution product installed may receive an InstallShield error message 1722.
When the user checks the Scripting Toolkit supplied Altiris jobs will not have been loaded into the Altiris Deployment Solution console.
This symptoms are seen ONLY by customers who have installed the Altiris Deployment Solution product on a drive other than the C drive.

The system has the symptom described above.
Solution
This issue will be fixed in the next release of the ServerGuide Scripting Toolkit, 1.3.01, currently scheduled for release 2nd Quarter 2006.
Workaround
Run the ServerGuide Scripting Toolkit 1.3 executable, which was downloaded from the IBM Web site:
- Run the ServerGuide executable and dismiss the 1722 error message when it is received.
- Finish with the InstallShield executable.
On the installation system, navigate to the following Scripting Toolkit directory:
- "Altiris_Path" \sgdeploy\sgtk\examples
Note: Where the Altiris_Path is normally C:\Program Files\Altiris\eXpress\Deployment Server
Edit the following file:
- loadbin.bat
Search for the following:
- Change to the system drive
On the line right after this search string, delete or comment out the following:
- C: Save the file loadbin.bat
Navigate to the following Scripting Toolkit directory:
- "Altiris_Path"\sgdeploy\sgtk\altiris\windows
Run the following batch file:
- msildbin.bat (This can be done by double clicking on the batch file in Explorer)
Notes: The Scripting Toolkit supplied Altiris binary will be loaded as it would have been from the InstallShield program.
The Toolkit Menu should have already been created even with the error, so the customer can use the IBM Tools menu option to navigate to the described directories.
Additional information
ServerGuide Scripting Toolkit v1.3 has a new
InstallShield based installation program.
There is a problem running that InstallShield program on
systems with the following details:
- Have the Altiris Deployment Solution product installed.
- Altiris Deployment Solution is installed on a drive other than the C drive.
- Runs the Scripting Toolkit InstallShield program and chooses the following from the supplied menu: "Integrate with Altiris Deployment Solution, Windows version"
The problem is in one of the files supplied by the Scripting Toolkit which is called during the install process.
This file has a hard coded path, which makes it impossible to find an Altiris executable that is also run during the install process.
Once the hard code path is removed, the installation process works as expected, no matter where the Altiris Deployment Solution product is installed.
Note: This issue is not related to the Altiris Deployment Solution product installed and will be seen on all Scripting Toolkit supported versions, listed in the Readme.htm
