PH42336: ABEND S800 RSN 0A or 0D AFTER APPLYING PTFS FOR PH20594 21/11/24 PTF PECHANGE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• After apply of PTFs, DFSORT job gets either an ABENDS800-A or
  ABENDS800-D indicating a zHPF channel program for an EXCP
  virtual request either specified a TCW that is not on a 64-byte
  boundary or specified a TCCB that crosses a page boundary. The
  EXCP in question was issued from ICEXPUB.

  USERS AFFECTED:
  All DFSORT users who have applied PTFs for PH20594 and have ZHPF
  enabled.
  
  USER IMPACT:
  APAR PH20594 fixed the problem it reported but introduced a new
  problem.
  

Local fix

• BYPASS/CIRCUMVENTION:
  The following option will disable use of zHPF for sortwork at
  the job level:

  .
  Or there is undocumented parameter that can be changed in
  ICEPRMxx member to disable zHPF for SORTWKs by adding Z39=NO:

  /* Changes to INV (ICEAM2) installation environment options */

                  Z39=NO,
                  ...
  .
  This change to Z39 will not get picked up until you have issued
  the 'START ICEOPT,ICEPRM=(xx)' command.
  
  RECOVERY ACTION:
  Add DEBUG option to turn off ZHPF for SORTWORKs and rerun job.
