APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Red Hat OpenShift container platform (OCP) restore from copy
    backup was stuck in restore active state, when vSnap server
    cannot respond to the 1st volume deletion request, because vSnap
    server was overloaded. IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server might
    not proceed with the restore because it persistently requested
    to delete the vSnap volume already deleted, since the
    confirmation of volume deletion was missed in the 1st attempt.
    
    The following error messages were repetitive, due to the
    persistent attempts to delete a vSnap volume already deleted.

    Failed to delete filesystem
    (SPP_1147_1661525340047_00_spp_1136_2280_182CAC09430) cloned
    from snapshot (spp_1136_2298_10183_182d28c1143). Error =
    (StorageVolumeDestroyException).
    

Local fix

  • Cancel restore job, and create a new restore job.

Problem conclusion

  • This problem has been fixed so that when vSnap server returns
    REST API error to IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server, OCP restore
    will fail, instead of hanging.
