Task 3: Preparing the system to perform an initial program load (IPL) from an alternate device

  1. Expand Management Environment in your HMC > your system > System and Partition.
  2. Click Systems Management.
  3. Expand Partitions.
  4. Select the partition.
  5. Right-click the partition and select Properties.
  6. In the Partition Properties window, click the Settings tab.
  7. Under the Boot category, change the Keylock position to Manual and the IPL source to D.
  8. Click the OK button.
  9. Expand the partition.
  10. Right-click the partition profile and select Properties.
  11. Select the Tagged I/O tab.
  12. Under the Alternate Restart Device category press Select.
  13. Expand the unit.
  14. Expand the bus.
  15. Select the slot with your I/O processor.
  16. Press Select.
  17. Press OK.
  18. If your system is powered off, right-click the partition, and select Activate. If your system is running, select Shut down partition, and then select Activate.
