Installing a new software release in the primary partition

The minimum memory required by the primary partition might change if you install a new IBM® i software release. A logical partition configuration error might occur if the minimum memory value is insufficient. Use System i® Navigator to change the minimum and maximum memory value for each partition.

Note - SRC Error B600 5390: The recommended procedure for an upgrade is to turn on the system to DST after adding the new resources (memory and I/O expansion units specifically), and adjust the minimum, current, and maximum for the partition memory as necessary. A logical partition configuration error usually indicates that the partition to which you are installing the new hardware does not have enough minimum memory to restart. To increase the minimum memory for the partition, reconfigure the partition memory using System i Navigator or the character-based interface. When you reconfigure the partition memory, the system provides suggested minimum memory.
