Dynamically moving logical partition resources

Dynamic movement of resources provides users with the ability to move processors, memory, and interactive performance between partitions without requiring a partition or the system to be restarted.

Dynamically moving interactive performance
You can set up interactive performance so that you can change the values between logical partitions without needing to restart the entire system.
Dynamically moving an I/O processor
A logical partition controls all devices connected to an IOP. You cannot switch one I/O device to another logical partition without moving the ownership of IOP.
Dynamically moving memory
Memory in each logical partition operates within its assigned minimum and maximum values. You can dynamically move memory between logical partitions without restarting the affected partitions if your request for memory movement is within the range of the minimum and maximum values specified during partition creation.
Dynamically moving processing power
The ability to move processor power dynamically becomes important when you need to adjust to changing workloads. Processors have minimum and maximum values associated with them. These values enable you to establish a range within which you can dynamically move the resource without needing to restart the logical partition.
