WebSphere Appliance Management Center for WebSphere Appliances Operating Systems: AIX, Linux, Windows

Supported operating systems

Verify that your operating system is supported before installing WebSphere® Appliance Management Center.

The following operating systems are supported for WebSphere Appliance Management Center for WebSphere Appliances:

AIX

Note: Additional requirements for the monitoring component:
  • Component xlC.aix61.rte must be at version 10.1.0.2 or higher. For installation instructions, see IY84212.
  • You must install AIX XL C/C++ Runtime Version 10.
  • On AIX 6.1, you must install the xlC supplemental run time for aix50 (xlC.sup.aix50.rte at level 9.0.0.1, or higher).
  • The Tivoli® Enterprise Portal clients are not supported on AIX.

Microsoft Windows

SUSE Enterprise Linux

Note: Additional requirements for the monitoring component:
  • Linux versions require you to install some compatibility libraries so that the agent can work correctly. The latest versions of the following compatibility libraries are required:
    • libstdc++
    • libgcc
    • compat-libstdc++
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 also require C++ Runtime Version 6.0:
    • libstdc++.so.6
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 must be at pdksh-5.2.14, or higher.
  • The Tivoli Enterprise Portal Server runs an instance of embedded WebSphere Application Server, therefore the system must also meet the minimum requirements for WebSphere Application Server. For information about the minimum service pack level that is required to install and run the embedded WebSphere Application Server in Tivoli Enterprise Portal Server, see:

Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Note: Additional requirements for the monitoring component:
  • Linux versions require you to install some compatibility libraries so that the agent can work correctly. The latest versions of the following compatibility libraries are required:
    • libstdc++
    • libgcc
    • compat-libstdc++
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux V5 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux V6 also require C++ Runtime Version 6.0:
    • libstdc++.so.6
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux V5 enables SELinux (security-enhanced Linux) by default, which affects the installation, configuration, and operation of IBM Tivoli Monitoring. To ensure the correct operation of the V6.1.x and V6.2.x releases, you must either disable the SELinux setting, or change it from enforcing mode to permissive mode when enabled. When the permissive mode is chosen, the system log contains entries about the IBM Tivoli Monitoring binary files that triggered the SELinux security condition. However, under the permissive mode, these entries are for auditing purpose only, and operate normally.
