Installing Decision Server Advanced components

You must run Installation Manager to install one or more Decision Server Advanced components on your workstation.

Before you begin

Install Installation Manager 1.8 or later and the required software to install Decision Server Rules, Decision Server Events and Decision Server Insights through Installation Manager. For more information, see Software requirements.

Specify the repository locations in the Installation Manager preferences. Choose File > Preferences and specify the path to the installation repository location. The following repository locations are relevant for the Advanced license:

disk1 contains the installation repositories for WebSphere® Application Server and the IBM® SDK Java™ Technology Edition for WebSphere.
disk2 contains the installation repositories for Decision Server Rules, the Rules profile templates for WebSphere Application Server, and Rules embedded.
disk4 contains the installation repositories for Decision Server Events and the Events profile templates for WebSphere Application Server.
disk5 contains the installation repositories for Decision Server Insights.

About this task

When you install Decision Server Advanced through Installation Manager, you select the components you want to install, and then you can select the features.

Note: You must install Decision Server Rules and Decision Server Events in a separate package group to Decision Server Insights. To install all of these components on a single computer, you must run the installer at least twice to locate two separate output directories.

Install Decision Server Rules and Decision Server Events in a <InstallDir>/ODM88 directory.
Install Decision Server Insights in a <InstallDir>/ODMInsights881 directory.

The following table shows the high-level steps that you must take when you install Decision Server Insights as a development environment.

Procedure

Start Installation Manager.
Click Install.
Select Decision Server Insights and Version 8.8.1, and click Next.
Review and accept the terms of agreement, and then click Next.
On the Install Packages page, do the following steps:
1. Ensure that Create a new package group is selected, and specify the installation directory, and click Next .
  Important:
  The default installation directory in Windows 7 is C:\Program Files\IBM\ODMInsights881. Change the default installation directory to a directory outside of Program Files and Programs files (x86) to avoid user privilege conflicts.
2. Select the translations to install and click Next.
3. Select the features that you want to install and click Next.
  By default, the Decision Server Insights development features are selected.
In the Common Configurations page, select I don't intend to create a runtime server and click Next.
Click Install.
