After a job has been processed, its JCL and any output data sets the job produces (called SYSOUT data sets) are placed on the output queue for processing by an output device. By default, SYSOUT data sets are not held. You can specify that SYSOUT data sets be held for processing by TSO/E users. Holding data sets for processing allows TSO/E users to use the TSO/E OUTPUT command to view output at their terminals. They can then decide whether to print or purge the output.
