About this task

  • For information about types of part numbers that are taken into account by License Metric Tool, see: Part numbers.
  • 9.2.20 Starting from application update 9.2.20, when you import part numbers, corresponding products are marked as software entitlements. For more information about relation between part numbers and software entitlements, see: Part numbers.
  • You can upload the part numbers file in the CSV or ZIP format.

Procedure

  • For application update 9.2.21 and higher, perform the following steps.
    1. Prepare the part numbers file.
If you added custom part numbers to the software catalog, ensure that they are included in the part numbers file. Otherwise, custom part numbers are not matched against the uploaded part numbers and are not used during automated bundling.
    2. Import the part numbers file.
      • To import part numbers for all computers to which you are assigned, perform the following steps.
        1. In the top navigation bar, hover over Reports, and click Products & Metrics.
        2. Click Import Part Numbers, browse for the part numbers file, and click Import.
      • To import part numbers for a selected computer group, perform the following steps.

If you import part numbers for a specific computer group, the part numbers are taken into account only for the software that is installed on the computers that belong to this group. They are also visible only to the user who is assigned to this computer group. For example, if you upload part numbers for a subgroup of the All Computers group, the part numbers are visible only to the user who is assigned to the subgroup. They are not visible to the user who is assigned to the All Computers group.

        1. In the top navigation bar, hover over Reports, and click Computer Groups.
        2. Open the computer group for which you want to import part numbers.
        3. From the list in the upper left corner, select Products & Metrics.
        4. Click Import Part Numbers, browse for the part numbers file, and click Import.

    1. Prepare the part numbers file.
If you added custom part numbers to the software catalog, ensure that they are included in the part numbers file. Otherwise, custom part numbers are not matched against the uploaded part numbers and are not used during automated bundling.
    2. In the top navigation bar, hover over Management, and click Part Numbers Upload.
    3. 9.2.2 Choose the computer group for which you want to upload the part numbers.

    4. Click Browse, and choose the part numbers file to upload.
    5. Optional: To overwrite the existing part numbers, select Overwrite existing part numbers. Otherwise, the new part numbers are added to the existing ones.
The option is enabled only if you previously imported a part numbers file for the computer group that you selected in step 3.
    6. Click Upload.
When you upload the file, a new entry is created in the Upload History table. The status is Pending until you run the import. If more than one entry has the Pending status, only the latest part numbers file is imported.
    7. Wait for the scheduled import or run it manually.
