Preserving bundling after the upgrade
Available from 9.2.31.
When a single instance of a component is installed
on a computer and it is upgraded, component assignment is preserved after the upgrade. The rule also
preserves the assignment to a Cloud Pak if applicable.
Example 1
A single instance of the Database component is installed in version 11.1 and is assigned to Product 1. The Database component is upgraded to version 11.5. It can be now assigned to Product 1 or Product 2. However, because this is the only instance of the Database component on the computer, its assignment is preserved after the upgrade. The Database component remains assigned to Product 1.
Example 2
Two instances of the Database component are installed on a single computer. The first instance is in version 10.0 and is assigned to Product 1. The the second instance is in version 11.1 and is assigned to Product 2. Both instances of the Database component are upgraded. All bundling rules are evaluated and the components are assigned to the best matching products.
The first instance of the Database component is still assigned to Product 1. Its original assignment was not preserved but evaluation of the remaining bundling rules still suggested the same best match. The second instance of the Database component is now assigned to Product 2. Its original assignment was not preserved and evaluation of the remaining bundling rules suggested a new best match.
