About this task

If a Remote services application URL was entered during installation, the URL cannot be edited from the Remote services preferences.

Procedure

  1. Optional: If you don't have any assets in your web app, you can generate the example templates for the web app:
    1. Open the web app in a browser at: http://server:port/rpeng
    2. Specify the user name and password to authenticate with the web app.
Remember: The user name and password depend on the user credentials configured and mapped to the rpe_report_designer or rpe_admin web app user roles. See the links on configuring users and authentication for the web app.
    3. In the left pane of the web app, click Design.
    4. In the Design reports page, click Click here to generate the examples.
This is a screen capture of the web app in a browser with the Click here to generate the examples link.
  2. Set the web app URL in the Remote Services preference:
    1. In Document Studio, click Window > Preferences > RPE > Remote Services.
    2. Under the RPE Web Services section, enter the URL and credentials to the web app component. URL example: http://server:port/rpeng
This is a screen capture of the Remote Services preference page.
    3. Click OK to save the changes to the preference.
  3. Load the RPE Central Library:
    1. In Document Studio, select File > Open Document Template.
    2. In the Template Selection window, click Load from Library.
This is a screen capture of the Template Selection pop-up window.
    3. You can select multiple templates from the RPE Central Library by pressing the Ctrl key, and then click Add Selected > OK.
