Interim fixes

An interim fix is a cumulative collection of important resolved known issues that arise between fixes. Engineering Lifecycle Management interim fix is an incremental delivery of fixes.

To qualify for inclusion in an interim fix, a resolved known issue must be considered pervasive or otherwise important. Candidate resolved known issues are evaluated and approved by experts on the Engineering Lifecycle Management technical support team. Interim fixes have the following characteristics:
  • They are cumulative. Interim fixes for a particular release of Engineering Lifecycle Management supersede or contain all the resolved known issues that are shipped in previous fix packs and interim fixes for that release.
  • They usually contain one or more resolved known issues.
  • They are published on Fix Central, and customers must place a request to gain access. It also has the details of supported operating systems and platforms for each interim fix.
  • A subset of operating systems is available on Fix Central.
  • They are tested by IBM.
  • They are accompanied by documentation that describes how to install and remove the interim fix.

Interim fixes are available as needed after the release of a new version or fix pack. They are intended as the preferred alternative to test fixes, which do not receive the same level of testing or enjoy the same level of support as interim fixes.
