Verifying users, licenses, and linked artifact information after an upgrade

To determine that an upgrade was successful, verify the users and licenses, linked artifacts, and indexing.

After you upgrade, check user information, licenses, linked artifacts, indexing, and connections to various tools to ensure that everything is working as expected.
  1. Open the User editor and ensure that the logged-in user's data is valid and that the correct license assignments are selected.
  2. Verify linked artifacts.
    1. If your project areas link to projects in older versions of the applications, go to the project's administrative interface and ensure that the links are navigable.
    2. Find and view work items and plans. Verify that the editors open properly. If you have work items with external links, such as links to test cases or requirements, verify that the links are still visible and navigable.
  3. Verify that the web client is working as expected.
    1. In a web browser, go to the web client at https://qualified.hostname:port/application/web, where application is ccm, qm, or rm.
    2. Check the list of project areas.
    3. Verify that you can run and create work item queries. Make sure that you can access other areas, such as work item history, SCM web, build information, dashboards, the project area, and the team area.
  4. Verify that the upgrade process was properly indexed by using the search function.
For example, you can search for work items in the Change and Configuration Management application. You can also search for artifacts in the application that you just upgraded to make sure that the indexing is working.
  5. In the Engineering Workflow Management Eclipse client or the client for Microsoft Visual Studio IDE, create a repository connection to the migrated Engineering Workflow Management server at https://qualified.hostname:port/jts.
  6. Verify that you can run and create work item queries. Make sure that you can access other areas, such as work item history, SCM web, build information, dashboards, the project area, and the team area.
  7. Log on to Engineering Requirements Management DOORS® Next and verify that everything works as expected.
