Installing Web Reports

Use this procedure to install InfoSphere® MDM Web Reports.

Before you begin

Make sure that you meet these prerequisites:
  • Your environment meets the hardware and software requirements for this component
  • You completed the IBM® Installation Manager preparation steps
  • You reviewed and completed the MDM user applications installation worksheet
  • You have IBM WebSphere® Application Server installed and running

About this task

You have two options available for installation: Install or Modify. The Install option assumes that you are installing the application on a clean server or workstation. That means that the server or workstation does not have any InfoSphere MDM components that are already installed (for example the MDM operational server, database component, or another user application). If any MDM components are present on the machine on which you are installing the application, you must use the Modify option.

Procedure

  1. Start IBM Installation Manager.
  2. On the IBM Installation Manager home panel, select Install or Modify.
  3. If you selected Install, complete these steps.
    1. On the Install Packages panel, select the InfoSphere MDM offering and click Next.
    2. Continue through the panels to accept the license agreement, select the installation directory, and the language.
    3. On the Install Packages panel, select Web Reports. Click Next.
    4. Enter the configuration information for the application. Use the MDM user applications worksheet as a guideline.
    5. Review the installation summary information and click Install.
  4. If you selected Modify, complete these steps.
    1. On the Modify Packages panel, select the InfoSphere MDM package and click Next.
    2. Select the language and click Next.
    3. On the Modify Packages panel, select Web Reports. Previously installed components are automatically selected. Make sure that they remain selected, otherwise IBM Installation Manager removes them. Click Next.
    4. Enter the configuration information for the application. Use the MDM user applications worksheet as a guideline. Click Next.
    5. Review the summary information and verify that the component that you want to install is listed in the Adding Features box and that no components are listed in the Removing Features box. Click Modify.
  5. Click Finish when the installation is complete and close IBM Installation Manager.
  6. Go to IBM WebSphere Application Server administrative console and verity that the application is deployed to the server specified during installation.

Results

When you install the application, IBM Installation Manager updates the webreports.properties file with the host name, port, and valid user name and password that you provide on the installation configuration panel and deploys the application EAR to the target application server. During deployment, the application server unpacks the EAR content into an installed apps directory. For example, WAS_PROFILE_HOME/installedApps/$cell_name/webreports.ear.
