Using the Enterprise Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) Toolkit

The InfoSphere® MDM Enterprise Service Oriented Architecture (ESOA) Toolkit provides a Java™ object API and web services interface to the operational server, providing a higher-order API that returns objects rather than rowlists.

Previously, the APIs presented a finer-grained interaction that required integrators to be familiar with our rowlist data structures. By providing a higher-order API that returns objects rather than rowlists, we remove the complexity of sifting through returned rowlists in order to identify the requested data. By removing the complexity, the toolkit reduces the learning curve for both customers and implementors, accelerates the delivery time of solutions, and ensures that you can select an SDK based on your needs and skills.

Said another way, rather than delivering only a generic set of services, the toolkit is a set of services that includes member names, entity names, and attribute names for the particular model.

The Enterprise Service Oriented Architecture (ESOA) Toolkit exposes the API calls as web services in a manner that allows you to choose your preferred container for the services hosting. These services support traditional SOAP-based interfaces and can be used to provide instructions and samples of how a developer can wrap API calls into web services for your deployments.

The Enterprise Service Oriented Architecture (ESOA) Toolkit is generated using a wizard within the InfoSphere MDM Workbench.

Enterprise Service Oriented Architecture (ESOA) Toolkit supports the IBM® WebSphere® Application Server servlet container.

Refer to the technical requirements for supported container versions.
