The InfoSphere MDM Administration application

Certain elements of InfoSphere® MDM can be administered through a peripheral interface, the Administration application.

The Administration application allows users who are responsible for the maintenance and management of InfoSphere MDM to perform administrator tasks online, without having to manually modify properties files or database tables.

Restriction: The Administration web application does not support the use of your browser's Back button.

InfoSphere MDM administration tasks
InfoSphere MDM is a feature-rich enterprise application that requires regular administration and configuration.
Managing user groups and transactions
A user group is a collection of users who perform similar tasks within an organization and who require common permissions to carry out those tasks.
Data associations
Data associations are collections of related groups and elements that you can use during the creation of Rules of Visibility to easily assign data-level entitlements for numerous data elements in a single rule.
Rules of Visibility
The Administration application provides you with a menu-driven interface for managing Rules of Visibility (RoV), which are data-level entitlements that determine what data end users can see and what they can do with that data in the system.
External validation
External validation, which allows the InfoSphere MDM products to validate end user data before updating or adding transactions, is a highly configurable and extendable feature that you can administer, using the Administration application.
Code tables and error messages
Code tables are used to store collections of values in the InfoSphere MDM database and can populate UI elements such as drop-down lists with those values.
Extension definitions
InfoSphere MDM allows you to expand its existing functionality to meet the specific business requirements of your organization. You can expand the functionality ofInfoSphere MDM by creating extensions, which are sets of customized code that either extend data elements or extend the behavior of existing transactions.
Data change tracing using the Transaction Audit Information Log (TAIL)
The Transaction Audit Information log (TAIL) option allows you to track any data change in the system via an audit trail. For example, a user can track changes in contracts for a particular party, by transaction types, and dates.
Messaging Adapter
You must configure the InfoSphere MDM Messaging Adapter with InfoSphere MDM, using IBM® WebSphere® as the application server and IBM WebSphere MQ as the JMS provider.
InfoSphere MDM feature configuration
You can configure features such as Redundant Update and Performance Tracking. Managing these configuration options can not be completed using the Administration application.
Spec index administration
You administer the indexes of spec searchable attributes within the runtime as well as the spec deployment.
Configuration and Management components
You can use the Configuration and Management components to easily configure and manage several InfoSphere MDM features.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues while running InfoSphere MDM, you have a number of options for tracking and troubleshooting issues to help with problem resolution.
External validation functions
The prebuilt validation functions in IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management are ones that you can use to create group and element validation rules.
Extension condition parameters
When you define and describe an extension in the extension framework, you can also specify condition parameters that must be true for the extension to be executed.
