You can add a category to a category hierarchy by editing
the category hierarchy.
About this task
To add a category to an existing category hierarchy:
Procedure
- Click Search
Category Hierarchy .
- Choose the search filter you
want to use:
- All – Returns all category hierarchies,
both active and inactive. This is the default value.
- Active – Returns only active category hierarchies
- Inactive – Returns only inactive category
hierarchies
- Enter the category hierarchy
name in the Hierarchy Name field.
Perform an exact search by entering the complete name, or enter
part of the name using a wildcard character (%) or a look-a-like character
(?).
- Click Submit.
- Click the name of the hierarchy
in the search results list.
- Click Add Category.
- Specify a name for the category in the Category
Name field.
- Specify a code for the category in the Category
Code field.
- Specify a description for the category in the Category Description field.
- Enable the Is Leaf Node check box,
if you want the category to be a leaf node.
- Enable the Is Categorizable check
box, if you want the category to be categorizable.
- Specify a date in the Start Date field.
- Specify a date in the End Date field.
- If you want to add a category relationship to this category,
click Add New Relationship. Otherwise, proceed
to step 21
You can add one or more parent or child relationship
to a category. When you add a relationship to a category, the parent
or child category must already be a part of the category hierarchy.
- Select whether the category you are working with is the
parent or child in the relationship.
- Click Search Category to perform
a search within the hierarchy.
- Select a hierarchy from the search result list.
- Click Submit.
- Specify a date in the Start Date field.
- Specify a date in the End Date field.
- Click Submit.
- Click OK.
