Starting the Profile Management Tool

You can start the Profile Management Tool in several ways, depending on the platform on which it is running. Before you start the Profile Management Tool, you need to be aware of the restrictions and ensure that the prerequisites are met. This topics guides you through the steps involved in starting the Profile Management Tool.

Restrictions:
  • Restriction for non-root users with multiple instances: If you install multiple instances of WSRR as the root user and give a non-root user access to only a subset of those instances, the Profile Management Tool does not function correctly for the non-root user. In addition, a com.ibm.wsspi.profile.WSProfileException or Access is denied message occurs in the install_root\bin\ProfileManagement\pmt.bat file. By default, non-root users do not have access to the Program Files directory, which is the default installation location for the product. To resolve this issue, non-root users can install the product or be given permission to access the other product instances.

Starting the tool on Linux and UNIX platforms

For Linux operating systemOn Linux platforms only, you can also use operating system menus to start the Profile Management Tool. For example, click Linux_operating_system_menus_to_access_programs > IBM WebSphere > IBM WebSphere Application Server V8.5 > Profile Managment Tool.

Starting the tool on Windows platforms
