Premium feature activation

You must purchase IBM® Security Directory Server explicitly through IBM Passport Advantage® to configure and use the premium features of IBM Security Directory Server.

Premium feature activation is enforced through a Premium Feature Activation Package that you can download from Passport Advantage. This package enables unlocking of the premium features of IBM Security Directory Server when you start the server.

The following premium features are unlocked with the Premium Feature Activation Package:
  • IBM Security Directory Server proxy
  • Pass-through authentication
  • Ability to record last successful authentication time stamp in user entries
  • Advanced password policy rules

You cannot use the premium features if you are upgrading from an earlier version to version 6.4 without the Premium Feature Activation Package.

To upgrade to the premium offering, follow these steps:
  1. Purchase a product license.
  2. Use the license to obtain a Passport Advantage account.
  3. Download and install the Premium Feature Activation Package from Passport Advantage.
  4. Migrate the earlier version (6.2, 6.3, or 6.3.1) instance to version 6.4. For more information, see Upgrade an instance of a previous version.
  5. Restart the server.
