Administrators integrate IBM® Rational® Asset
Manager with IBM Rational ClearCase® and
IBM WebSphere® Service Registry and Repository
to support problem tracking, cross-product asset management, and the
ability to create fully-integrated service-oriented architecture (SOA)
applications; for example, web services.
About this task
This example use-case graphic illustrates the relationships
between Rational Asset Manager and Rational ClearCase and WebSphere
Registry and Repository. Note that in this example, the integration
with ClearCase is at both the server and client levels in Rational
Asset Manager. The diagram illustrates the server side of the integration
where Rational Asset Manager server stores assets in ClearCase. The
client side integration connects development tools to Rational ClearCase.
On the client side, steps 3 and 4 are applicable; on the server side,
step 5 is applicable.
- Architect defines asset types, categorization, and review boards
in Rational Asset Manager for service or asset
use or reuse.
- User performs a search in Rational Asset Manager or WebSphere Service Registry and Repository
for a service or asset to use or reuse.
- Developer checks files in and out of Rational ClearCase.
- Developer uses development tools to create a new asset or modify
an existing asset.
- Developer publishes updated asset information to Rational Asset
Manager and WebSphere Service Registry and Repository,
and checks asset files into Rational ClearCase for
