IBM® Netezza ODBC configuration file names and locations

You can configure the .odbcinst.ini and .odbc.ini ODBC configuration files as hidden files or as non-hidden files.

In the ODBC configuration examples for Linux® and UNIX systems in Installing and configuring ODBC, the two ODBC configuration files are configured as hidden files because the names are preceded with an initial period. You can configure the files as non-hidden files by omitting the initial period.

When you place the two ODBC configuration files in the home directory of the user, the Netezza® ODBC driver expects the files to have the hidden file names .odbcinst.ini and .odbc.ini. When you place the two ODBC configuration files in a directory other than the home directory of the user, the Netezza ODBC driver expects the files to have the non-hidden file names odbcinst.ini and odbc.ini.
