Follow these steps to install version 8.1.5 of the Rational License Key Server Administration
Agent in console mode.
About this task
Install the agent on the computer where the license servers are installed.
Procedure
- You must install the server administration agent with IBM
Installation Manager 1.8.6 or later.
Attention: The Installation Manager 1.8.5
documentation is the correct version for the 1.8.6 release.
If Installation Manager 1.8.6 is not installed, download the software from the IBM Support Portal for your respective platform and architecture
and install it:
If you are using an earlier version of Installation Manager, upgrade to version 1.8.6:
- Download the RLKS_Administration_And_Reporting_Tool_Agent_815.zip media files
from the Fix
Central.
- Extract the files to a directory, such as ../agent-installer/815/.
- Launch Installation Manager, and then add the extracted media file locations to IBM
Installation Manager Preferences.
- Enter P to open Preferences.
- Enter 1 for Repositories.
- Enter D and input the absolute path to location
../agent-installer/815/RLKS_ADMIN/disk1, and then press Enter.
- Enter A to apply changes.
- Enter R to return to main menu.
- Enter 1 to Install.
- Enter 1 to select Agent 815 to install.
- Press Enter to select the default value of Next.
- Press Enter to select the default value of Next.
- Enter A to accept the license agreement.
- Press Enter to select the default value of Next.
- Press Enter to select the default location to create a package group to install the agent
into.
The agent is supported on 32-bit and 64-bit computers. By default, the package is installed in
this directory location:
- Windows: C:\Program
Files\IBM\RCL\RLKSAdminAgent
- UNIX: /opt/IBM/RCL/RLKSAdminAgent
Note: Because multiple installations of the agent can be installed on one machine, the installer
installs each agent with a profile name that reflects the order of its installation. For example, if
two agents are installed on one machine, the profile name of the first agent installation is
IBM RLKS Administration Agent. The profile name of the second agent installation is
IBM RLKS Administration Agent_1.
- Press Enter to select the default value of Next.
- Enter one of the numbers that is associated with the translation you want to install.
- Press Enter to select the default value of Next.
- Enter 1 to configure the agent.
- Enter H to specify the port number that the agent will run on.
Installation Manager prompts you to enter the port number. When you are done, press Enter.
You must install an agent for each license server on the computer. If you select a port number
that is already in use, Installation Manager alerts you with an error message. If you receive this
error, select another port number.
- To select the license server type, enter 1 to select IBM Common Licensing,
2 to select CLM server - Floating licenses, or 3 to
select CLM server - Authorized user licenses. Then press Enter.
- Perform one of the following actions:
- Windows with License server type selected as RLKS: Enter the appropriate
key that is displayed in the list to select a Windows
service name of RLKS license server service that is installed on the machine, and then press Enter.
Selecting a service displays the corresponding location of RLKS, location of the
lmgrd.log file, and location of license files as read only information. If you do
not want to use this service, or if you want to manually provide user input, from the list, select
--Configure manually--.
- For platforms other than Windows, with License server type selected as
RLKS: Enter 4 to select the IBM Common Licensing installation
location if RLKS is installed on the machine. Then press Enter. Selecting an installation location
populates these corresponding input fields: Location of RLKS, Location of the
lmgrd.log file, and Location of license files.
- If you are not using the pre-populated values, you must enter E to
provide the location of the IBM Common Licensing
(lmgrd application) that you want to administer with the Rational License Key Server Administration
and Reporting Tool. Installation Manager prompts you to
enter the location. Type in the absolute path of license server lmgrd location, and
then press Enter. By default, IBM Common Licensing is installed
in one of these directories:
- Windows: C:\Program
Files\IBM\RationalRLKS\common
- Linux: /opt/IBM/RationalRLKS/bin
- If you are not using the pre-populated values, you must enter F to
provide the location of the license server log file. Installation Manager prompts you to enter the
location. Type the absolute path to license server log file, and then press Enter. The agent uses
the log file to gather license usage data. The reporting tool uses the log files to generate
reports.
- Enter G to specify the location of the license key file that is
configured with the selected IBM Common Licensing. Installation
Manager prompts you to enter the location. You can enter multiple files. For Windows operating systems, separate multiple license files with semicolons
(;). For Linux operating systems, separate the names with
colons (:). Press Enter when you complete this step.
- Enter N. If there are any validation errors, Installation Manager
displays error messages and instructions for viewing the details of each error. You cannot move to
the next page until the configuration page is complete.
- Review the features to install, and then press enter I to install. A
summary list of installed packages displays.
- Press Enter to select the default value of Finish.
- The agent is installed by default as a Windows service
and can be configured as a service on UNIX platforms. To start
