Checklist of administrator tasks on Windows

After IBMRational® ClearQuest® is installed on the administrative host computer, the administrator must perform a series of tasks to create a Rational ClearQuest environment. There are both required and optional tasks. Required tasks such as creating the database set and connection profiles must be performed before deploying the product to the users. The optional tasks such as applying integration packages can be performed at any time.

Table 1 identifies the required and optional post-installation tasks for the administrator.

Tasks not marked as optional must be performed before the product is deployed to the users.

1 Create a schema repository and user databases

After you install Rational ClearQuest and create the necessary empty database containers, you must create the Rational ClearQuest schema repository and user databases.

3 (optional) Apply packages for integrations

To integrate Rational ClearQuest with other software, you add Rational ClearQuest packages to existing schemas.

Rational ClearQuest stores information about users and user groups in the user database and in the schema repository.

9 (optional) Configure the Rational E-Mail Reader

The Rational E-Mail Reader takes specially formatted email messages, converts the information in them into a form understood by Rational ClearQuest, and submits the information to a Rational ClearQuest database. This capability allows users to submit and modify records by email, without using a Rational ClearQuest client.
