Records transfer and external schema mapping automate the transfer of file plan components to and from different schemas
You can now transfer file plan components and metadata to a schema used by another application or one that conforms to standards such as those of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). External schema mapping enables you to select which of your component attributes correspond to the XML elements of the external schema. Then when you want to import components from or export them to a different format, you can tailor the results by selecting one of the schema mapping profiles you have created.
Audit entry archiving cleans your database while ensuring data integrity
A new option to archive audit entries enables you to maintain the integrity of your change tracking while purging your database of unneeded audit entries. By exporting audit entries, then declaring the exported files as records before purging the original entries, you can streamline your system while conforming to regulatory standards. For reporting to an external entity, you can also export without deleting the entries. New configuration options enable you to enable the purging of any audit entries or just those entries that belong to deleted components.
Information center and other documentation improvements make the application easier to install and use
A new IBM Records Manager Information Center on ibm.com makes the product documentation easier to search and browse. Streamlined help for administrators includes a more logical structure while adding key new topics such as a comparison of industry and IBM Records Manager terminology and high-level overviews of the fresh installation and upgrade processes.
Supersede views and customizable link labels specify link types and directions
You can now designate a link view as a superseding view, clearly identifying to your users that a linked component supersedes another. Customizable link labels such as “linked to” and “linked from” further enable administrators to specify link types and directions.
Installation is easier and more automated
Unattended installation enables pushbutton installation according to a response file template you fill out. New and revised help text, labels, layouts, and messages make the installation program easier to use. The program also includes more behind-the-scenes checking of entries and new options such as the ability to restart the WebSphere Application Server automatically.
Classification guides automate component security settings
Classification guides include two new fields, enabling administrators to set an initial security classification and to govern access according to security descriptors. Applying a guide automatically populates custom attributes of the same name with the correct values.
Record version retrieval ensures that users select the correct version for action
When users select a record version that is not the most recent, the application warns them and offers them the opportunity to change their selection.
