IBM Content Manager, Version 8.5   Operating systems:  z/OS

Verifying your IBM Content Manager for z/OS installation from a workstation

You can use a client workstation to verify the installation of the library server for Content Manager for z/OS® or resource manager for Content Manager for z/OS.

To verify your installation:
  1. Install and configure your client workstation such as IBM® Content Navigator or a custom client.
  2. Start the client application.
  3. When the servers are running, test them by following these steps:
    • Log on with the default user ID ICMADMIN and password PASSWORD.
    • Import some documents into the NOINDEX item type that was made available during the library server installation.
    • Search for the documents that you imported.
    • Retrieve the documents.
If you can perform these actions on the library server and resource manager, you have installed them properly.
If verification fails:
  • Check that all installation or upgrade procedures completed without errors.
  • If the logon fails, review the error message that you received on the workstation and on z/OS to determine that you performed all of the required steps to set up the library server.
  • If the NOINDEX item types do not exist, confirm that you launched the cmcfglsi -t predefs command on the workstation to predefine the item types and the associated attributes.
  • If the import or retrieve operations fail, check that you properly configured the resource manager. In addition, check that you properly configured the resource manager to access all of its objects. You can view and modify resource manager configuration settings, such as IP address and port number, by using the system administration client.
