IBM Content Manager, Version 8.5

Upgrading IBM Content Manager Enterprise Edition from Version 8.4.3 to Version 8.5

You can upgrade from Content Manager EE Version 8.4.3 to Content Manager EE Version 8.5.

For all products, the upgrade to Version 8 Release 5 follows specific rules:
  • You must upgrade your Version 8.4.3 prerequisites to the Version 8.5 prerequisites before you upgrade.
For WebSphere Application Server ealier than Version 8: If you have WebSphere® Application Server applications such as the resource manager application or web services configured in Content Manager EE Version 8.4.3, then you must apply Version 8.4.3 Fix Pack 1 or later and also upgrade WebSphere Application Server to Version 8 before you can upgrade Content Manager EE to Version 8.5. WebSphere Application Server Version 8 is the minimum prerequisite supported by Content Manager EE Version 8.5.
  • After you upgrade to Version 8.5, you cannot revert back to Version 8.4.3.
  • Version 8.5 reuses the same product directory (IBMCMROOT), working directory, and system registries as Version 8.4.
  • If you need to install any new Version 8.5 features, then run the configuration manager after the upgrade.
For IBM Case Foundation: If you enabled IBM® Case Foundation (FileNet® Business Process Manager) in Version 8.4, then it will remain enabled in Version 8.5. If you did not enable IBM Case Foundation in Version 8.4 but want to enable it for Version 8.5, then you must configure Content Manager EE Version 8.5; then once the upgrade is complete, rerun the Content Manager EE configuration manager and configure the Content Manager EE connector with Enable IBM Case Foundation selected.
  • If the configuration manager fails, then you can retry it. You do not need to rerun the upgrade wizard after it succeeds.
  • Cross-platform upgrades are not supported. For example, you cannot upgrade a Version 8.4.3 AIX® database to a Version 8.5 Solaris database.
  • Although Version 8.5 no longer uses Advanced Workflow, the upgrade will not automatically remove these privileges.
