Comparing two like objects

You can examine the similarities and differences between two of the same types of objects. Additionally, you can compare files; however, you are actually comparing the content, not the properties, of the files.

About this task

You can compare the following types of objects:

  • Directory
  • Folder
  • Folder template
  • Process rule
  • Project
  • Project grouping

Procedure

  1. Right-click over the appropriate object, and select Compare with.

    To find a file, see Finding an object.

  2. In the selection dialog box, select the object you want to compare with the specified object and click OK.

    The appropriate Compare dialog box shows the following information:

    • Directories: Unique and common entries
    • Folders and process rules: Properties and tasks
    • Folder templates: Properties
    • Projects: Unique and common members
    • Project groupings: Properties, projects, and tasks
  3. View the properties of an object by selecting the object and clicking show properties icon.
  4. View the history of an object by selecting the object and clicking show history icon.
  5. Compare two object versions by clicking the first version, pressing Ctrl and clicking the second version, then clicking compare icon.
