Mapping COBOL structures to Java data types
You can map COBOL data structures to Java™ data types and modify default mappings during the XOM generation process.
- Identical COBOL structures
COBOL group items with an identical structure are mapped to a single Java class when you generate the XOM. - Mapping COBOL data items to boolean and date types
The boolean and date types do not exist in COBOL. When you generate a XOM from a COBOL copybook, you can use a predefined type converter to change the default mapping of COBOL data items to Java boolean and date types. - Mapping COBOL fixed-length tables to the List type
By default, a COBOL fixed-length table maps to the Java array type. You can change the default mapping of fixed-length tables from Array to List. - Remapping a COBOL structure to a Java class type
By default, if COBOL group items have an identical structure, they are mapped to the same Java class. You can remap the group item to another Java class type or a new class type. - Selecting a string trim type for the String type
When a COBOL alphanumeric (PIC X) data item is mapped to the Java String data type, you can choose how blank characters are trimmed in the String.
