Developing rule projects for z/OS

To execute business rules on z/OS® you must design and orchestrate a rule project in Rule Designer or Decision Center, and then deploy the rules in an archive.

To develop a business rule application for z/OS, you design business rules independently from the application logic. You develop a rule project from which you extract a ruleset, and then you create a contract between the application and the ruleset.

If you want to execute rules in a PL/I application, you must develop your business rule application with PL/I structures as the reference point for your object model.
Testing and simulating rulesets on z/OS
You can configure a Scenario Service Provider (SSP) to execute tests and simulations either with zRule Execution Server for z/OS or Rule Execution Server on WebSphere® Application Server for z/OS.
