Error notification support for SIGDANGER signal
The AIX Virtual Memory Manager (VMM) uses a combination of physical memory and disk storage to provide a virtualized memory space that is much larger than the actual physical memory.
AIX error notification
Although the PowerHA SystemMirror software does not monitor the status of disk resources, it does provide a SMIT interface to the AIX error notification function. The AIX error notification function allows you to detect an event not specifically monitored by the PowerHA SystemMirror software. For example, a disk adapter failure, and to program a response to the event.

You can use the automatic error notification function to perform a variety of tasks.

In PowerHA SystemMirror some system events are automatically monitored with the new event manager daemon.
Error notification method used for volume group loss
If quorum is lost for a volume group that belongs to a resource group on a cluster node, PowerHA SystemMirror selectively moves the affected resource group to another cluster node (unless you have customized resource recovery to select notify instead).
Test error notification methods
You can test the error notification methods generated by the selective fallover facility by emulating an error for each volume group in SMIT.
Emulation of error log entries
After you have added one or more error notification methods to the AIX Error Notification facility, test your methods by emulating an error.
