System architecture

A typical architecture of IBM® Enterprise Records components in a FileNet® P8 environment depends on the version of FileNet P8 you are using.

If you use FileNet P8 V5.1 or earlier, a typical architecture includes the Process Engine server, the Content Engine server, and the IBM Content Navigator. This architecture also includes a Crystal Reports server, a database server, a directory server, the Content Engine administration client, and a browser client.

If you use FileNet P8 V5.2, a typical architecture includes the Content Platform Engine server, the IBM Content Navigator server. This architecture also includes a Crystal Reports server, a database server, a directory server, the IBM Administration Console for Content Platform Engine, and a browser client.

You can place all of the components on one server, but only in a demonstration or development. The following graphic illustrates a typical distributed architecture.

The distributed architecture hosts IBM Content Navigator for FileNet P8 V5.2. However, some IBM Enterprise Records components can be distributed across multiple servers to optimize performance and system resources.
