IBM OMEGAMON for JVM on z/OS, Version 5.4.0

Getting started with IBM OMEGAMON for JVM on z/OS

IBM® OMEGAMON® for JVM on z/OS® (OMEGAMON for JVM) is a remote monitoring agent that focuses on discovering and solving problems within Java™ virtual machines running on z/OS operating systems.

Java is a programming language that is used for many applications across multiple operating systems, including z/OS. Java programs execute in a runtime environment called the Java virtual machine (JVM). Many z/OS subsystems, including CICS®, IMS, and DB2®, provide JVMs to run application code that is written in Java. In addition, pure Java application servers such as those in the WebSphere® family of products, including the WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Portal Server, and WebSphere Liberty provide JVMs. An enterprise can also execute stand-alone Java applications.

OMEGAMON for JVM workspaces in the OMEGAMON enhanced 3270 user interface and the Tivoli® Enterprise Portal provide a central point of management for your JVMs and offer a comprehensive means for gathering the information that you need to detect and prevent problems with the JVMs. By using OMEGAMON for JVM, you can analyze information that affects response time and throughput, anticipate performance problems, and receive alerts when critical events take place on the JVMs in your enterprise.
