Developing integration solutions by using WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus resources

Develop IBM® Integration Bus applications and integration services by using WebSphere® Enterprise Service Bus. Although IBM Integration Bus includes a WebSphere ESB conversion tool, it is also possible to convert WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus resources manually.

You use IBM Integration Bus and WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus to develop integration solutions that achieve the following goals:

Transforming service requests from one protocol to another.
Changing the format, content, or target of service requests.
Routing requests to one or more service providers.

The implementation of these solutions is where IBM Integration Bus and WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus differ.

In IBM Integration Bus, you can use the WebSphere ESB conversion tool to convert mediation modules that are produced by WebSphere Integration Developer version 6.2, WebSphere Integration Developer version 7, IBM Integration Designer version 7.5, and later development versions.

To develop an integration solution from WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus resources, complete the following tasks:

Decide whether to use the WebSphere ESB conversion tool or perform a manual conversion. For more information, see The WebSphere ESB conversion tool.
Optional: Identify which constraints apply to your WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus resources when you use the WebSphere ESB conversion tool to convert them into IBM Integration Bus resources. For more information, see WebSphere ESB conversion tool limitations.
